Title: Minister of Music
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Status: Part-time (12-15 hours)
Salary Range : D.O.E.
General Position Description
Direct all current music ministries of the church, including one choir. In partnership with the Senior Pastor and other staff, plan and execute worship experiences and select music that embodies the vision and mission of the congregation of Christ Covenant MCC. Ensure that the choir is a place where the musical gifts of trained and untrained singers are valued, where the ministry of music with and for the congregation is a key focus, and where the care and mutual support of the members of the choir is supported. Grow new ministries in conjunction with the vision of the congregation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master’s Degree or equivalent experience relevant to the described position.
- Extensive experience in worship design, choral conducting, performance of religious music inside and outside the Christian tradition and secular music in several genres and traditions.
- Experience in piano accompaniment is an asset.
- Experience arranging or composing music for choir, small ensemble and instruments is an asset.
- Some experience with music from non-European/Western cultures is an asset.
